TILGHMAN IS., Md. - A Talbot County community is trying to create a new holiday tradition, break an...interesting record.

Folks on Tilghman Island believe they've built the world's largest crab pot Christmas tree.  The 47 foot tall structure is nearly ten feet taller than a "tree" like it, built in Washington State in 2012.

The project is being spearheaded by the Phillips Wharf Environmental Center, and features ornaments made by students at Tilghman Island Elementary School.  A utility pole is the trunk, and 380 donated, working, crab pots are the branches.

There will be a Crab Pot Tree lighting Saturday December 14th at 7 pm, at the base of the Tilghman Island Bridge.
