"Wreaths Across America" Arrives In Delaware

Posted: Updated:

MILLSBORO, Del. - Thousands of holiday wreaths rolled into town Thursday, but not for the front doors of homes.

Instead, they'll hang on the graves of thousands of soldiers at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Perdue Trucking brought in more than 4,000 wreaths from Worcester Wreath Company in Maine, as part of the Wreaths Across America program.

More than 900 cemeteries across the country will receive a special delivery in the next few days, and it's a special moment for driver Brian Ward.

"It's a reminder that I need to honor and remember these folks that served before so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we enjoy everyday," Ward said.

The wreaths will be laid on the grave sites Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a special ceremony at noon.
