Santa Sets Up Shop In Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Families in the Doverdale and Church Street neighborhoods in Salisbury braved the cold Thursday night for a very special visitor.

Santa opened his workshop doors in the Church Street and Doverdale neighborhoods for children to visit before his big night in just about two weeks.

It was the "8th Annual Santa's Workshop," sponsored by the City of Salisbury Neighborhood Services.
"It's very important that we have this function in this neighborhood because we want to have a sense of togetherness here," said Susan Phillips, Interim Director of Neighborhood Services for the City of Salisbury.

Kids came out almost 45 minutes early to wait in line, shuffling their feet and bouncing up and down with excitement.

"Just the look on some of the kids faces here," said Phillips, looking around. "Some of these kids have been coming for years and now they're growing up. It's great to see them out here."

And it was worth the wait. Each child met with Santa, delivered their list, and left with an early Christmas gift.
