Choptank Electric Issues Beat the Peak Alert For Thursday

Posted: Updated:

WMDT 47 NEWS - With chillier than normal temperatures, a local electric cooperative is asking members to cut back their power consumption.

Choptank Electric has issued a Beat the Peak alert for Thursday, December 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. During this time, officials ask that you delay using unnecessary lights and large consuming appliances like dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers, and water heaters.

Home heating systems reportedly use the most energy during these hours, so Choptank asks members to turn down your thermostat 3 degrees.

By saving these energy resources, members are helping save the environment, and avoiding high cost energy.
