Mar-Va: 40 Percent Of $120K Raised For Upgrades

Posted: Updated:

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - In less than a month, a Pocomoke City landmark could be without first-run movies.

According to the Mar-Va Theater, funding is at 40 percent, or right around $50,000. But the theater needs to raise $120,000 by January 1st to replace old projectors, audio equipment and a screen due to movie companies switching from 35mm to a digital system.

To help with the costs, the theater says they are offering several incentives for residents wishing to donate, including memberships, naming opportunities and recognition levels at the Mar-Va.

The theater says memberships start at $15 to $100 and movie packages range from $100 to $375.

The theater tells WMDT there are naming opportunities as well. The theater says rooms would be named after the donor and range from $5,000 to $50,000.

For additional information, call the Mar-Va Theater at (410) 957-4230.
