Mr. Jesse Steele

Selbyville Middle School

Selbyville, DE

Nomination: "My name is Andy and I am starting middle school this year in a new State. I was nervous about switching schools and not knowing how to get to class or having any friends. Mr. Steele met me at back to school night one week before school started and he gave me a combination lock to take home and practice with because I didn't know how to open a locker. On my first day of school he was waiting to take me to my homeroom class and make me feel welcome. This week my mom came to school and had a meeting with the teachers because I struggle passing written tests in school. Mr. Steele is now my special education teacher at Selbyville Middle School. He makes sure I get to the right classes, he always returns my books and papers that I forget or lose and he makes me charts to get organized and ready for all my classes every day. I heard Mr. Steele has been a special ed teacher for 18 years and even though I only know him for a short time, he is there to help me be successful and independent. I'm not nervous anymore about school, I like getting there every day because I know if I need help Mr. Steele is my go-to person. I hope you can thank Mr. Steele for making my life good. I'm going to have a very good school year because of him on my team."
