OCEAN CITY, Md. - Law enforcement in Ocean City are looking for a suspect who reportedly stole from a store, then assaulted the security guard.

Maryland State Police and the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation say on Tuesday, they were called to the Tanger Outlets on Ocean Gateway, for a reported assault. An investigation showed that a member of loss prevention for one of the stores had tried to stop an alleged shoplifter, but when confronted, the suspect refused, got into their vehicle, and fled, reportedly hitting the loss prevention employee in the process.

The vehicle is described as a newer model lime green "boxy" styled vehicle, such as a Kia Soul or Scion XB. The suspect is facing 1st degree assault charges.

Anyone with information on this incident, is asked to contact Detective Jason Burnett at the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation at 410-632-1111 or Lower Eastern Shore Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776. Crime Solvers could give a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.
