MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. - Police have arrested a Nanticoke man, after he allegedly assaulted his estranged wife.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says on December 6th a Deputy met with a woman at a home on Athol Road in Mardela Springs. The woman reported to the Deputy that her estranged husband, 40-year-old Leo Weigand, had gotten into the home through an unlocked door, grabbed her, dragged her into the bathroom, put her into the tub, and then started to choke her.

Police say the victim had signs of injury that corroborated her account. An investigation showed that Weigand had never live at the house, and had no legal standing to enter it.

Weigand was arrested, and charged with 1st degree burglary and 1st degree assault. He is being held at the Detention Center on $60,000 bond.
