GEORGETOWN, Del. - People across Delaware are celebrating the 226th anniversary of the First state Saturday.

16 Mile Brewing Company threw a free Delaware Day celebration at the brewery in Georgetown.

Claus Hagelman, director of marketing for 16 Mile, says "we were the first state with the first star on the flag and it's something we should take quite a bit of pride in."

Along with food and games, the company dedicated the event to help raise money for a number of charitable organizations including Children & Family First, which helps families get back on their feet after hard times.

Sarah, Crank, and Phoebus from the morning team on 93.5 The Beach were also on hand.

"Today is a great day to kind of be able to take some of these nonprofit organizations and really get a bunch of money for the by doing something really fun," says Crank.

While the event was free, a portion of the proceeds from food and drinks will go to local charities.
