Posted: Updated:

WYE MILLS, Md. - A $37 million project at Chesapeake College is officially underway.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the pre-construction and infrastructure work of Chesapeake College Health Professions and Athletic Center was held today.

The project is a renovation of an existing building and will include a additional space along with a new second floor. The facility will reportedly house classrooms, training rooms, health profession labs, the campus fitness, center, a gymnasium, locker rooms and offices.

A spokeswoman for the college says a Baltimore architecture firm Marshall Craft Associates provided the project design, and Barton Malow of Baltimore is the general contractor on the project.

The project is expected to be complete by August 2015.
