RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Chicken and cattle were No. 1 and No. 2 among Virginia's top 20 agricultural products in 2012.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services says broilers retained their first-place ranking with cash receipts totaling $649 million. Cattle and calves came in at second at $434 million.

The list of top 20 commodities released Monday shows milk coming in at third, followed by turkeys, soybeans, greenhouse and nursery products, corn and grain, hay, wheat and tobacco. The next 10 include eggs, cotton lint, tomatoes, hogs, apples, peanuts, potatoes, cottonseed, barley and grapes.

Soybeans moved up from the number six spot in 2011 to eighth in 2012, reflecting a big increase in receipts. Soybeans had cash receipts totaling $216 million in 2011 and $302 million last year.
