Wicomico Co. Receives $49,043 Grant For Watershed Projects

Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO CO., Md. - Wicomico County is making another step towards completing their Watershed Implementation Project to help improve the Chesapeake Bay.

According to reports, the county was awarded $49,043 from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, and will be used to pay a significant portion of the engineering services associated with Phase I Watershed Implementation Projects (WIP). The project reportedly consists of seven storm water management retrofit projects on publicly-owned land.

County officials say the primary goal of the projects is to assist efforts to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.  The money will reportedly go a long way in managing storm water run-off, which in turn will prevent nutrients from entering local water ways.
