Storm Brings Wind, Rain To Delmarva Peninsula

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Forecasters posted gale warnings for Delaware and Chesapeake Bay waters as a winter storm moved into the mid-Atlantic region.

The National Weather Service also issued wind advisories for central and southern Delaware as rain began falling Tuesday across the Delmarva peninsula.

Forecasters expected up to four inches of rain in the region, with street flooding possible in northern Delaware and minor coastal flooding possible with Wednesday morning's high tide along the upper Chesapeake Bay, the Delaware Bay and the tidal Delaware river.

Wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour were expected Wednesday and Thursday, and a wind advisory was in effect starting at midnight Wednesday for much of Delaware.

Gale warnings for the Chesapeake and Delaware bays were in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday evening.
