Maryland State Police Unveil New Helicopter In Easton

Posted: Updated:

EASTON, Md. - Troop 6 in Easton unveiled the first new Agusta Westland helicopter to be deployed on the Eastern Shore today!

It's one of ten State Police choppers that will replace the twenty-year-old dolphin fleet across the state of Maryland.

It uses the latest technologies and has more space so that crews can do their jobs more effectively and safely for medevac, homeland security and search and rescue missions.

19-year-old Liz Marks of Easton was rescued by a Maryland State Police helicopter, when she suffered serious brain injuries during a car accident.

"I lost all my memory. I'm blind in one eye for the rest of my life, deaf in one ear for the rest of my life, and I lost the ability to smell something in high school. I graduated in shock trauma."

Liz slammed into a flatbed tow truck when she was texting and driving last April. She credits the aviation crew with saving her life.
