UPDATE: Deadline For Potential Privatization Of Dining Services Pushed Back

Posted: Updated:

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The deadline for private-sector food service vendors to submit proposals to a local University, has been pushed back.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore says they have pushed back their deadline, to December 2nd, 2013, for private sector vendors to submit proposals about the delivery of food service on campus. UMES officials say the extension was made to give more time to respond to questions submitted by potential vendors who are contemplating submitting bids.

If the University were to go a different direction, the new food service would start July 1st, 2014. University officials say it will take several weeks to analyze the submitted proposals, so a decision won't be made until after the holidays.

Dozens of current UMES food service employees protested the possible privatization of dining services last month.
