198th Signal Battalion Set To Return To DE Early

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - More than 300 soldiers with the Delaware National Guard are set to come home early.

A spokesman with the Delaware National Guard says the 198th Signal Battalion will start returning in phases from Afghanistan starting next month, as operation bases begin to shut down. The phases will reportedly continue over the next three months, and some soldiers may not return to Delaware until February. The unit deployed back in June, and the normal standard rotation for the Army is supposed to be nine months.

The unit will first head to Texas to go through demobilization, which includes medical evaluations. Officials say this process can last about two weeks.
