HARTLY, Del. - A Hartly man has been arrested after allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting two young girls.

Delaware State Police say on Wednesday around 1:00 PM, Troopers went to a home on Fords Corner Road in Hartly for a reported sexual abuse case, but found out that the suspect, 33-year-old Shawn Burnett, had been kicked out of the house, and was headed South on Everetts Corner Road. The Trooper reportedly conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and took Burnett into custody.

An investigation apparently showed that on Tuesday, Burnett was babysitting his roommate's 13-year-old daughter, and an 11-year-old female neighbor. According to the report, while Burnett was babysitting, he gave the two girls liquor and muscle relaxers, and then brought them into his bedroom, where they played "Truth or Dare." Police say during the game, Burnett made inappropriate advances on the children. The girls told their mothers the next day, who then alerted State Police.

Cpl. Gary Fournier of Del. State Police told WMDT that "detectives are looking to interview these children again to find out if there were some other incidents where he may have sexually abused these children or other children."

Burnett was charged with 1st and 2nd degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, endangering the welfare of a child, and providing alcohol to minors. He is being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $174,002 cash bond, and has been ordered to not have any contact with anyone under the age of 18.
