City Leaders Considering Additional Amenities For Crisfield Pier

Posted: Updated:

CRISFIELD, Md. - The Crisfield pier is nearing completion. After four years and a big hit from Superstorm Sandy, the almost $1.5 million project should be finished within a matter of weeks, according to Mayor Percy J. Purnell.

City leaders are in the process of considering a number of amenities to add to the area, including a small restaurant, a kayak dock, a ferry and green space. This week, ten new benches were purchased for the new pier.

"We hope to bring more tourists, we hope to enhance the experience of the folks that traverse that dock everyday and we hope that it will be a drawing card for folks coming to Crisfield to do business with other organizations and businesses that are located in that area," Mayor Purnell said.

The Mayor and City Council are expected to tour the city dock Saturday, November 16 at 10 a.m. to discuss the additional amenities.
