DE Jurors To Deliberate In Fraternity Death Suit

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Jury deliberations are near in a lawsuit filed against members of a University of Delaware fraternity by the parents of a fraternity pledge who died of alcohol poisoning.

An attorney for the parents of 18-year-old Brett Griffin of Kendall Park, N.J., urged jurors in closing arguments Thursday to hold the former president and pledge master for Delta Lambda chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu liable for Griffin's death.

Former chapter president Jason Matthew Aaron and former pledge master Matthew Siracusa have denied any wrongdoing. Their attorneys were to present closing arguments Thursday afternoon.

The Griffins claim that their son's death was the result of illegal hazing that included forcing pledges to eat and drink substances that made them vomit and concluded with an alcohol-soaked party the fraternity was prohibited from having.
