Delaware Officials Discuss Health Care Reform

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware's health and social services secretary says 136 Delawareans have enrolled in the state's new health insurance exchange under the Affordable Care Act.

Thursday's update uses figures through Nov. 12. It follows the federal government's announcement on Wednesday that 97 people had enrolled in Delaware's exchange as of Nov. 2, one month into the open enrollment period,

Secretary Rita Landgraf told the Delaware Health Care Commission that she expects the number to climb as problems with the federal enrollment website are fixed.

Landgraf noted that the enrollment number refers only to people who have picked a health insurance plan in the exchange, not those who have actually paid for a plan. State officials were aware of only one person in Delaware who had paid for a new exchange policy.
