RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - With his Republican opponent for attorney general yet to concede, Democrat Mark Herring has announced his transition team.
The announcement Wednesday comes hours before Mark Obenshain outlines his next step to capture the office of attorney general.
The State Board of Elections shows Herring with a 164-vote lead over Obenshain, a Harrisonburg Republican.
In a release, Herring says he has begun "the process of governing" by announcing the members of the transition team. They include former first lady Anne Holton, who once sat on the juvenile and domestic relations bench, and commonwealth attorneys from Henrico County and Lynchburg.
Obenshain has said he is waiting for the State Board of Elections to certify the Virginia vote on Nov. 25. He has not said if he will seek a recount.
