Salisbury University Students Honor Vets

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University's Student Military and Veteran's Association honored those who served today, and had a message for the public: help those that have protected us.

With the War in Iraq over and operations in Afghanistan nearing an end, speakers said increasing numbers of younger vets will need to get adjusted to civilian life.

"When we get adjusted to civilian live it's a different structure, everything's new again," said Nicholas Engelhardt, vice president of the Association.  "We always extend a helping hand to any veteran coming back."

And that's a trend seen at Salisbury, where almost 100 vets are enrolled.

The event wrapped up with a tribute to Terry Allen, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, and former adviser to the group. He passed away just two weeks ago.
