Salisbury Police Warn Of Delmarva Power Phone Scam

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury Police Department says they are currently conducting an investigation into a local business that allegedly received a phone scam.

According to reports, the business received a call from a subject claiming to be a representative of Delmarva Power. The caller reportedly stated that the business was delinquent with their electric bill and that if payment was not received the electric service would be disconnected. Police say the suspect was a male subject with a Jamaican accent calling from an unknown phone number.

Police are asking anyone that receives a phone call of this nature to not provide any personal information or send any money to the caller prior to making contact with a validated representative of the company. They ask victims to obtain information about the caller, including a phone number if possible, and to notify the police.
