Seaford School District Holds Meeting About School Choice Reform

Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del. - The Seaford School District held a public information meeting tonight to help parents understand the new choice law.

Governor Jack Markell signed the legislation back in June 2013, before the new school year, in an effort to simplify the application process and help ensure students can attend their chosen school in Delaware.

The law, House Bill 90, allows students to apply to public, charter, or vocational technical schools throughout the state without regard to where they live.

Officials with the school district say the October 30th meeting was only a preliminary meeting, and a more in-depth meeting will be held in December. They say they are still trying to make their way through the new law.
