Delmarva Law Enforcement Participate In National Take Back Initiative

Posted: Updated:

DELMARVA - Law enforcement agencies from across Delmarva are teaming up for a nationwide initiative.

On October 26th, The Drug Enforcement Administration is giving the public an opportunity to safely get rid of unwanted, or expired prescription drugs, with the National Take Back Initiative.

Officials say when these medications stay in the home, they can end up being misused or abused. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more Americans currently abuse prescription drugs than the number of those using cocaine, hallucinogens, and heroin combined.

Officials say the drop off is anonymous, and suggest removing labels from bottles being disposed of.

Many police departments and law enforcement agencies in the area are participating. Check out the list below, for the participating agency nearest you.
