Posted: Updated:

ACCOMACK CO., Va. - An 82-year-old man has been indicted for reportedly embezzling from Onley Fire and Rescue volunteer fire company in Accomack County.

According to court documents, James Morris, of Onley, reportedly served as company treasurer, and allegedly committed the crimes for more than four and a half years between January 2008 and June 2012.

Morris was reportedly arrested on October 9th, but court records show his wife posted $1,000 cash bond the same day. The investigation dates back to February when the Board of Supervisors stopped making direct payments to the company, after noticing funding "irregularities."

Morris is scheduled to appear in Accomack General District Court for a hearing on Wednesday, October 23rd at 1:30 PM.
