PITTSVILLE, Md. - A Delmar teen has died, after a car crash in Pittsville on Thursday night.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says around 11:55 PM, deputies arrived to the one vehicle crash on Pittsville Road, near Bob Smith Road. According to the report, the 1993 Toyota, driven by 18-year-old Brittany Ardis, had gone off the road, into a tree.

The car was reportedly severely damaged, and fire officials had to pull Ardis from the wreck. She was rushed to PRMC, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Team says they are continuing to investigate the crash.

Wicomico County Board of Education says that since students and staff didn't have school on Friday, they are still coming to terms with the loss. WCBOE says on Monday, both Ardis's home school of Wicomico High School, and Parkside High School, where she attended the CTE Criminal Justice program, will have extra counselors and a psychologist on hand to speak with those who need it.
