LAUREL, Del. - A toddler is fighting for his life, after a crash in Laurel. Delaware State Police responded around 12:30 PM on Wednesday on Route 13 at Whitesville Road.

They say a 16-year-old girl was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus, Westbound on Whitesville Road, coming up to Route 13. According to the report, she stopped, then continued onto Route 13, right into the path of a 2008 Ford Fusion. Authorities say the Fusion hit the Taurus on the driver's side, causing both vehicles to spin into the center median.

Police say the toddler, who was riding in the back seat of the 16-year-old's car, was not in an approved car seat, and was ejected into the front seat passenger. He was flown to A.I. DuPont Hospital with life threatening injuries. The boy is reportedly the nephew of the driver.

The 16-year-old front seat passenger from the Taurus, along with the driver, were both taken to Nanticoke Memorial hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Fusion, was reportedly wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the crash.
