GOOD MORNING DELMARVA - Ravens Roost 96 will host a golf tournament on October 25, 2013, to benefit the Veterans Service Centers of America (VSCOA). The tourney will be held at Ocean City Golf Club in Ocean City, MD.
Founded in 2010, the mission of VSCOA, headquartered at Camp Royal Oak in Quantico, MD, is to provide a transitional residence program and emergency housing for disabled veterans who have become homeless. Their programs serve both male and female veterans and their children. "Returning veterans are faced with many issues: high unemployment rates; addiction; homeless rates exceeding that of the Vietnam vets; and, among veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, frightening high rates of suicide. We provide veterans opportunity, shelter, needed support and access to services," says Jerry Black, Founder and Executive Director of VSCOA.
VOSCA's extensive network of service providers, knowledge of the Veterans administration system and professional staff have come together to form a unique program of services to support the needs of the Veteran.
Sgt. Charles Eggleston, USA (Ret.), VSCOA Board Member, Wounded Warrior and Past Department Commander for the State of Maryland's Military Order of the Purple Heart says "Money raised from this tournament will be helping Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans who have become homeless.
These are men and women who have served our country. Please help us honor
these veterans. "Ravens Roost 96, Inc. is a non-profit organization and is part of the Council of Baltimore Ravens Roosts located in Baltimore, Maryland. The objective of this organization is to organize and maintain this corporation exclusively for pleasure, recreation, fund raising and other similar non-profitable purposes.
