Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - WMDT honored a remarkable teacher who's been touching many young lives here on the Eastern Shore.

Tuesday, Mary Buchanan was presented with WMDT and Accurate Optical's Teacher Who Makes A Difference award for the month of September.

Mary is a certified nurse and has been a teacher for over thirty years! She's currently teaching a nursing assisting class at Parkside High School. She says she's passionate about teaching students the basics they need to go on and have fulfilling careers.

"I know that probably over 125 students of mine are probably an employee at Peninsula Regional and Atlantic General. I also work with seniors in high school, and that's my passion- to get them to grade 13."
