OCEAN CITY, Md. - Major construction is about to get underway in Ocean City.
In an effort to improve electric service Delmarva Power will replace 90 wooden utility poles that hold a high-voltage transmission line along Coastal Highway between the Maridel substation on 41st Street and the Ocean Bay substation on 85th Street.
The $10 million project will replace the older poles with ones made of galvanized steel, which require less maintenance and can withstand winds of up to 120mph. Delmarva Power officials say residents should expect intermittent
closure of right traffic and bus lanes in those blocks under construction. The construction will affect service in Ocean City and parts of Worcester and Sussex County.
The project is expected to be completed by February 2014. . All post-project cleanup work will be finalized by mid-April of next year.
