GEORGETOWN, Del. - Delaware State Police say they are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash in Georgetown early Sunday morning.

According to reports, Bryan Schieferstein, 25, of Millsboro, was driving a 2012 Kia Soul Northbound on Cokesbury Road near the intersection of Seashore Highway around 6:15 AM. Police say, for unknown reasons, Schieferstein did not stop at a stop sign and continued straight through the intersection where he struck an embankment, launched into the air, and collided with a tree.

Authorities say Schieferstein was pronounced dead at the scene. According to reports, he was properly restrained and the only one in the car at the time of the collision.

Officials say the Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.

The intersection at Cokesbury Road and Seashore Highway was reportedly closed for about three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared early Sunday Morning.
