Rallying For A Cause

Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del. - The bats were flying in Seaford today as the local Applebee's rallied the community in support of one special cause.

"Unfortunately, I think everyone knows someone impacted by cancer," said Dean Swift of the Seaford Applebee's.

He, along with coworkers, family and friends, came out to the Jay's Nest sports complex for a day-long softball tournament benefiting Alex's Lemonade Stand - a foundation fighting childhood cancer.

"Our owners really took to this idea and ran with it. It's just a great charity," said Swift.

The teams started sweating it out at 10 Sunday morning and played until sunset, raising nearly $2,000 dollars.

"I think this event went great," said organizer Cody Revel. "All events have some small problems but this went perfectly."

The group says it has plans for future events, including a football game near thanksgiving.
