SEAFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police say a crash on the evening of October 5th left a bicyclist critically injured.

According to reports, the incident occurred at 7:24 PM as Mark Lowe, 51, of Laurel, drove a 2012 Honda Civic south in the left lane of Sussex Highway (U.S. Route 13). As the vehicle approached Herring Run Road, the side view mirror on the car's passenger side reportedly struck a bicyclist who was riding in the roadway.

Police say the bicyclist, David Emery, 48, of Seaford, was ejected from the bicycle. Investigators have not determined the direction in which he was traveling prior to the crash, but they say Emery was transported by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into this crash. No charged have reportedly been filed.
