Warm Weather Helps Out Rehoboth Businesses

Posted: Updated:

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - A week of warm weather, with summer-like temperatures, has helped out some local businesses after a cold and rainy start to summer.

Rehoboth Beach was packed on Saturday as people took in the sun and sales at the sidewalk sale. The late resurgence of summer has driven restaurant sales up and the number of empty hotel rooms are down in the area.

"I think it's absolutely fabulous. We have had a wonderful season," says Barbara Brewer with Atlantic Sands Hotel. "This last October and September time frame has been absolutely stunning and we've had a full house almost every weekend."

Brewer says that Superstorm Sandy's damage to the New Jersey beaches has increased business, and there could be a few people out of work due to the government shutdown who may be in town to enjoy the unseasonable wether.
