Zumba Event Honors Slain Teen

SALISBURY, Md. - C.J. Abbott died heroically saving a friend in a shooting near Salisbury University last month, and friends came out to honor his memory Saturday.

They organized "Zumba for C.J.," a fund raiser to benefit the memorial fund started by his parents started.

It was held at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, and the fast-moving cardio event will help provide a scholarship to one Mardela High senior soccer player.

"I just want to do as much as I can to help his parents," said Taylor Smith, friend of C.J. "It's a great honor to have all these people come out and show support for him."

"It's a lot of hard work but he's worth it," she added. "To put all this effort into, he's worth it."
