Going Pink: Salisbury Firefighters Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury Fire Department is doing their part to raise breast cancer awareness by wearing pink all month long.

They're also selling pink T-shirts and giving 100 percent of the proceeds to Women Supporting Women, a local organization. Last year, firefighters say they raised more than $2,200.

"It's one of the top priorities as far as charities for fundraising that you can actually raise money for," said firefighter Aaron Colegrove. "The general public faces a huge percentage of them having cancer, breast cancer and other cancers."

The fire department says they have two upcoming events next week to raise more money. The first is a corn hole tournament at the Station 16 on Wednesday at 6 PM.  On Thursday, firefighters will host "Funds For Friends," an all-day event at the Greene Turtle.

Colegrove says 10 percent of the sales will go to charity.
