SALISBURY, Md. - While nearly 800,000 government employees wait for the shutdown to end, businesses around the area are helping folks out where they can.
In D.C., several shops are giving away free sandwiches, burgers and other discounted items to the non-essential workers until they head back to work. In Salisbury, one restaurant is offering a 20 percent discount to all take-out food customers.
"I think its a shame its the best country in the world and were shutting down our government," said Andy Fantis, owner of Andy's Place. "None of us are making money, so might as well keep things circulated a little."
