GEORGETOWN, Del. - A fatal collision involving a DART bus, is under investigation in Georgetown.

Delaware State Police say on Tuesday morning, around 9:40 AM, a 55-year-old Frankford man was driving a 2010 Dodge Ram pick-up truck on Old Furnace Road near Waller Road, when he crossed over into the opposite lane, hitting the drivers side of a DART bus.

The collision apparently sent to bus overturned into a ditch, where it landed upright, and the truck stayed in the road. Police say a third vehicle, a 2009 Infiniti G37, driven by a 46-year-old Seaford woman, was able to swerve an avoid the collision, go into a ditch and stop in a yard.

The driver of the pick-up wad reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Police say there were 8 people on the bus, including the driver, and all of them were taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Six of the occupants suffered non-life threatening injuries, while the seventh is listed in guarded condition, and the eighth is listed in critical. The driver of the Infinity was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The identity of the deceased Dodge Ram driver has not been released at this time. Old Furnace Road was closed between Waller and Asbury Road for about three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
