Local Church Sets Up Shop For International Fund Raiser

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - This weekend, a local church took a break from traditional Sunday morning service, and set up shop to help build an orphanage in Haiti.

Remedy Church hosted the "Garage Sale for Orphans" in the downtown plaza Saturday and Sunday, as part of a nationwide fund raising event.

Nearly 60 garage sales are being hosted across the country to help in the effort, and the contributions from Salisbury are apparently slated for one particular part of the orphanage construction project.

"This money is going specifically to fund the showers and bathrooms that are being put there," said Derick Weaver, Pastor of Remedy Church.

Remedy was able to raise more than $1500 over the weekend, and will be able to make a considerable contribution for the orphanage.
