Loaded Gun Found In VA Man's Carry On At Salisbury Airport

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A Virginia man was found to have a loaded gun in his carry-on at a local airport on Tuesday.

The Transportation Security Administration says an x-ray machine officer at the Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport, spotted the .380 caliber gun in the Mappsville, Virginia man's bag.

The TSA says they contacted the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, who removed the handgun, that apparently had 5 rounds inside. According to the report, there was no impact on airport operations, and the man was allowed to get onto his flight, without the gun.

Officials with the TSA say that the man just forgot that he had the gun in his bag. The TSA reminds travelers that weapons are not permitted in carry-on bags, but are allowed in checked baggage, if properly packaged and declared. For more information on that visit the TSA's website.
