DSP Investigate Suspicious Death In Dagsboro; Neighbors In Shock

Posted: Updated:

DAGSBORO, Del. - Delaware Police are investigating the reportedly suspicious death of a Dagsboro man.

Delaware State Police say they were called to a home on the 30000 block of Power Plant Road, just before 6:00 PM on Monday, for a subject that had reportedly been stabbed. Once at the home, Troopers say they found a 52-year-old man with wounds to his upper torso. Some residents, who live just a few houses away from the incident, were completely taken by surprised.

"This is something we never suspected that could happen in our community," says Justin Curtis, a resident on Power Plant Road.

"It really scared my babies," says Ronada Ros, another resident on Power Plant Road. "They walk every day to my father's house right beside where the incident happened."

Delaware State Police say the victim, who neighbors refer to as "Harry," was pronounced dead at the scene by Sussex County Medics. The Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy on the victim, whose name isn't being released at this time, to rule on cause and manner of death.

"Before we can rule on any murder homicide or anything of that nature, we have to wait on our medical examiner's office to determine that cause or manner," says Corporal Gary Fournier with the Delaware State Police.

Corporal Fournier says the investigation is currently active and on-going. They say that they have some witnesses they are talking with, and evidence they are gathering from the scene, and it has led them to believe that this was an isolated incident.

"The public has no concern for any continued threat from anybody in the area," says Corporal Fournier.

Corporal Fournier says as soon as they gather any further investigative leads, or word on the cause and manner of death, they will report that information.  We will also bring you more information as it becomes available.
