Three Men Behind Bars After Felton Robbery

FELTON, Del. - Delaware State Police say three men are behind bars after allegedly robbing a convenience store in Felton on Monday.

According to reports, a Delaware State Trooper observed two men, later identified as 39-year-old Dean Smith and 26-year-old James Hill, entering the Canterbury Shore Stop on the 8900 block of Route 13 with masks over their faces.

A later investigation revealed the men, armed with handguns, demanded money from a 20 year old female employee who complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.

Reports say as the trooper approached the gas station, the two men exited the shop and ran to a waiting getaway car driven by 17-year-old Daekwon Tilghman.

Authorities say a car chase ensued and ended with the suspect's car overturning near the intersection of Route 12.

The three were taken into custody without further incident.

Smith and Hill were both charged with first degree robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony among other charges. Both are being held on $45,000 dollars bond.

Tilghman was transported to a local hospital and admitted with non-life-threatening injuries he sustained in the crash.  He faces multiple charges including reckless driving, first degree robbery, and driving without a valid license. He is being held on $100,000.bond.

Police say the female employee was not injured in this incident.
