Salisbury City Council Passes "EDU Incentive Zone"

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The push to draw small businesses to downtown Salisbury is officially moving forward, after city council passed an "EDU" incentive zone in their September 23rd meeting.

When a new business starts up downtown, they typically have to pay at least $3,500 per EDU for water and sewage usage, but the incentive will waive those costs. The surplus of EDU's come from the closed "Linens of the Week" laundry facility in the Church Street neighborhood in Salisbury. City council hopes by eliminating this fee, businesses will be more inclined to start up downtown.
