Beebe Medical Center Opens Doors To Job Applicants

Posted: Updated:

LEWES, Del. - Despite a still tight economy, one Sussex County hospital is hiring, and opened their doors to job candidates Monday.

Hospital representatives at BeeBe medical center in Lewes say the job fair wasn't related to the recent layoff's at PRMC.  Beebe has actually been seeing a higher average number of patients in the intensive care and progressive care units, mainly linked to the area's aging population.

Vice President of Human Resources for BeeBe Medical Center, Catherine Halen, says "definitely the medicare population is growing in this county and our patients are very ill and that's the reason we're seeing a need for more intensive care beds."

Nursing applicants traveled from as far away as New York for the job fair.
