One Locomotive Falls During Train Derailment In Federalsburg
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Quite the clean-up effort this afternoon after a train derailed in Federalsburg.
We're told it happened right around noon on Monday, near Frank Adams Industrial Way. It was carrying petroleum and grain. Three cars derailed, one falling to its side, but luckily no one was injured.
Oil did spill from the locomotive, but authorities were able to control the situation rather quickly. They tell WMDT since it is a rural area, crews will dig up the fuel soaked soil, remove it, and replace it with new dirt, with no contamination threat to surrounding areas.
The fallen car is scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday.
