ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) - Maryland Democratic candidates for governor are wooing a labor organization for its endorsement.
Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Attorney General Doug Gansler and Del. Heather Mizeur spoke Monday at the Maryland State and DC Building Trades Conference.
Brown touted a gas tax increase approved this year as a crucial step in funding badly needed transportation projects that will put builders to work.
Brown, Gansler and Mizeur all expressed support for exploring project labor agreements to steer construction work to unionized firms.
Gansler noted the need for more inspectors to enforce prevailing wage violations.
Mizeur expressed support for collective bargaining on college campuses.
