ST. MICHAELS, Md. - Water rates in one Talbot county community could be going up soon if a proposal is passed.
It's all to pay for routine maintenance on the two water towers in St. Michaels.
Town manager Jeanie Weisman says the 20 percent increase will come out to about $7.00 more per quarter for residents.
The maintenance, which will include removing water from the towers and cleaning the inside, is expected to take a total of six years to complete.
