MARYLAND - Maryland's new motor scooter and moped law goes into effect Oct. 1.
All motor scooters and mopeds will have to be titled and insured, and all operators and passengers must wear a motorcycle helmet. If the vehicle doesn't have a wind screen, you have to wear eye protection.
These new requirements are in addition to the existing law that requires all motor scooter and moped operators to have a valid driver's license or a moped operator's permit.
