DE Officials Partner To Increase College Awareness

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - Delaware officials say they are working to ensure high schools students are best equipped for the college application process.

According to reports, beginning this month, the College Board is sending resources to students, specifically high-achieving, low-income students, that may be at risk of discounting the best schools due to their financial situation. The project is a part of a new partnership between Governor Markell, Secretary of Education Mark Murphy, and the College Board, that was announced September 18th. In addition to the support from the state's colleges and universities, Delaware's effort is backed by a group made up of all of the Ivy League schools, MIT and Stanford. Students will reportedly receive college application fee waivers, detailed information about affording college, and a letter from all of the Ivy Leagues institutions, Stanford and MIT encouraging them to apply to top schools.
